Google AI Plus free for 1 year: how Indian college students can claim it before 31 December

Google is giving eligible college students in India one year of Google AI Plus at no cost. You have to redeem it by 31 December 2026.

What you get

  • Access to Gemini Omni
  • 2x higher usage limits in Gemini
  • 400 GB storage, shared across Google Drive, Gmail and Google Photos
  • Other AI Plus benefits listed on Google’s support page

Who can claim it

  • You’re enrolled at an eligible college or university in India.
  • You have a personal Google account. School-issued Workspace accounts don’t work.
  • You can complete Google’s student verification, which may ask for your college email.
  • You can add a valid payment method. You won’t be charged during the free year.
  • Google’s student page says you must be 18 or older.

How to claim it (5 minutes)

  1. Sign in with your personal Google account.
  2. Go to one.google.com/ai-student and tap Claim your offer.
  3. Complete the student verification.
  4. Add a payment method and confirm.
  5. Set a reminder for 11 months from today.

The catch

After 12 months, the plan renews as a paid plan (about $4.99 a month in local currency) unless you cancel. Cancel any time before the renewal date if you don’t want to pay. Google’s terms say a promotional membership cancelled during the offer period may stay active until it ends.

Some accounts can’t claim it, including existing Google One subscribers, some family groups and supervised accounts. If the offer doesn’t show for you, this is usually why.

Offer terms can change, so check the details on Google’s page before you sign up.
